Kids love playdo, and with this simple recipe, you can whip up some in
minutes!
What You Need
1/2 cup water
1 cup salt
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
You can double or cut the recipe in half, and you need to do some math for
that.
Equipment
Mixing bowls
A resealable plastic bag
Measuring cups and spoons
A big spoon
Optional:
Food coloring
Rubber gloves
What to do
Step 1. Combine the flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Stir together until
they are incorporated.
Step 2. If using food coloring, use as many bowls as colors you are using.
For example, if you are using 4 colors, you need 4 bowls. Measure out the
oil and water and devide them among the bowls. Ad a few drops of food
coloring in each bowl, and devide the dry ingredients among each bowl.
Step 3. If you are not using food coloring, you only need one bowl. Add
the oil and water and stir. If you are using one color, add the water and
oil into the bowl with your gry ingredients along with a few drops of food
coloring.
Step 4. Knead the playdo with your hands. Wear rubber gloves if you wish
so your hands don't turn the same color as the playdo if you're using food
coloring. If it is crumbling, add more water. If it is too mushy, add more
flour.
Step 5. Store it in bags and start playing with it. Keeping it in the fridge
will help it last longer.

Also, devide = divide.

Parents make it for their kids. The Wife did at least. Cleaning it up can be a whole nother hastle, including cleaning out the bowl and pan it was mixed and cooked in.

and post it here! it's funny! I think it's called will it play dough. I might be

I even have thought about trying it. Lol
I really never thought about making it. We got it at the store.
When I was a child, in school we build an adobe house, so made the mud bricks, but this I've not thought about doing.

ah nice, wayne! I played with playdough when I was little. I made a cowboy
thing out of it! but, it broke. :( My teacher said she might fire it so it could
look like pottery!

I played with playdough as a kid. we made playdough using Kool-aid crystals so it had colour, scent and taste. Only did that once, mind you.

Yeah, you can cook the playdo; you use the same ingredients, put them in a
pot, and add cream of tartar. You then turn on the stove and stir until it's
fluffy. The cream of tartar is what makes it fluffy. I saw a recipe to make
this with kool-aid. You add the same ingredients, and you add a pack of
kool-aid, and it probably smells sooo good! I've seen playdo made with these
ingredients, and the recipe each time it was a little different as far as the
measurements go. I'm wondering if instead of vegetable oil, can you use
baby oil? I know if you do that, then you can't eat it, but you would have
scented playdo.

I actually made candy-cane and star shapes, and made them into ornaments, out of that kind of clay. It's fun to make! We gave the art away to our parents. I still love the thought of making things.

I'd rather make stuff out of plaster of paris.

Plaster is sooo messy.

Aww, why is the above person's account disabled? That's sad and this's such a neat topic!! I'd like to try this but I don't know what I'd do with it. I guess you put it in the fridge to harden? Cause you don't want it to fall a part..hmm very interesting!
